Use the slash menu

Insert any kind of block by typing a forward slash.

The slash menu is the fastest way to add anything to a page.

  1. Place your cursor on an empty line, or at the end of any line.
  2. Type / (a forward slash). A menu appears under your cursor.
  3. Keep typing to filter — for example, /h1 for Heading 1, or /todo for a checkbox.
  4. Use and to move the highlight, then press Enter to insert the highlighted block.
  5. Changed your mind? Press Esc — the menu closes and your typed text stays as plain characters.
Tip You can insert text, headings, lists, to-dos, toggles, quotes, callouts, dividers, code, images, sub-pages, and databases — all from the slash menu.
